Replacing a laptop with a tablet has long been the dream of tech companies. The latest effort to do this comes from Samsung with its new Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, a 10.5-inch Android tablet designed to offer the best of both worlds – the ease of use of a tablet and the power of a notebook.
The Galaxy Tab S4 has everything you’d expect to take on the laptop form factor: at 10.5 inches it’s nice and big, it has a high-resolution display with a high pixel-per-inch count (236ppi), and it’s powered by the exceptionally-capable Snapdragon 835 chipset.
And with its 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage that can be upgraded significantly with a memory card, it’s clear that the Galaxy Tab S4 is a highly capable device that can challenge the appeal of the average business notebook.
It also has the ability to turn into a desktop system. This is thanks to the Samsung DeX dock, a piece of hardware that lets people hook tablets and phones up to a keyboard, mouse, network point, and monitor. The dock accommodates all connections, and lets phones and tablets connect and disconnect very easily.
And yes, that means you can now use the tablet as a tablet, and then when you reach your desk (at home or at the office) you can slide it into its dock and use it as you would a desktop or laptop system.
This is just the ticket for people who use their tablets to send emails, surf the web, or use cloud-enabled services through their browsers or remote terminal software. It’s also great for watching videos and listening to music, either undocked or on a bigger screen.
The good folks over at WCCFTech have done a full review on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, and their conclusions were very positive.
If your future purchases will include tablets for business use, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 definitely brings some good qualities to the table.
Tarsus Distribution now stocks the devices, and should you want more information on them or wish to place an order, you can speak to Samsung PM Charl Van Den Berg; you can reach him via the TD switchboard on 011 531 1000, or send an email to this address.
