In the past year, Surface usage within enterprise organisations nearly doubled driven by strong growth in the use of collaboration and productivity apps to maintain business continuity.
In the last decade, Surface has become known for its versatility, power and performance, brilliant touch screen, pen capabilities and great battery life. It is by far Microsoft's most widely adopted family of devices across business customers.
Power, Out Of The Box
Many or most of the Surface for Business computers can be ordered directly with advanced capabilities already in place. What is important to look out for is the speed of the processor, a critical factor if the person who will be using the device uses complex and computationally intensive software such as that required for big data advanced analytics, design, architecture, and engineering, or large volumes of sensitive data generated by industries such as the financial sector, for example.
From its inception, Microsoft Surface has garnered plaudits for its combination of price, features and capabilities. What many don’t realise is that the numerous Surface products – including very affordable models, high-end ones and unique devices such as Surface Laptop Studio – are designed to fit the needs of different employee types. And that is only scratching the Surface product line. The Microsoft range of Surface for Business devices includes a wide variety of notebooks, laptops, and 2-in-1 computers, all with different features to suit different user needs. Surface Security
Apart from the accessibility and engagement made possible by technology such as the Microsoft Surface family of devices, the security of these devices and the platforms and information they give access to is a non-negotiable part of the confidence and trust that users of Microsoft devices have become accustomed to. The security features offered by Microsoft on its devices as well as collaboration platforms are precisely what is needed by macro-enterprises around the globe.
Every installation of Windows 10 and 11 includes built-in antivirus, and anti-malware software called Microsoft Defender Antivirus, which updates itself using the same mechanism as Windows Update. Microsoft Defender Antivirus is designed to be a set-it-and-forget-it feature and doesn't require any manual configuration. Microsoft Defender acts as the primary antivirus app on your device. It scans files, remediates threats, and lists detected threats in security reports on the Windows Security app.

Zero-Touch Deployment
Windows Autopilot is a cloud-based deployment technology in Windows 10 and Windows 11. You can use Windows Autopilot to remotely deploy and configure devices in a zero-touch process right out of the box.
This enables an IT department to configure/customise images with little to no infrastructure to manage and a process that is easy and simple. From the user’s perspective, it only takes a few simple steps to get Surface to a productive state. In fact, the only interaction required from the end user is to connect to a network and verify their credentials. Everything after that is fully automated.
Windows Autopilot allows you to:
- Automatically join devices to Azure Active Directory (Azure AD).
- Auto-enroll devices into MDM services, such as Microsoft Intune (requires an Azure AD Premium subscription).
- Restrict the Administrator account creation. Autopilot is the only way to have the first person who logs into Windows enter as a standard user.
- Create and auto-assign devices to configuration groups based on device profiles.
- Customise OOBE (Out of Box Experience) content and branding to meet organisational requirements.
- Enable full device configuration with Intune.
- Reset or restart devices remotely.
